The Inland Northwest Llama Association (INLA) currently represents the combined efforts of about 80 llama farms and owners located in the Pacific Northwest, primarily Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Oregon. INLA was formed in 1987 to promote llama ownership and safeguard the welfare of llamas by educating its members and the public in general on the proper care and maintenance of llamas. Today's INLA is a broad based support group providing:
A common resource and support group for sharing and learning from each other regarding the care, rearing, use, marketing, and promotion of our llamas.
A common voice to address current concerns in the llama industry and to relate current issues within the industry to the general membership.
An organization to facilitate activities for the membership to show their llamas to the public.
An outlet for educating the public about llamas and llama ranching.
An avenue for each member to express their particular joy about raising llamas and to "just have fun".
INLA currently holds bi-monthly meetings which are held at individual farms. The elected board convenes at these meetings to discuss current issues, events and activities prior to the general membership meeting. Annually, elections are held for administrative positions.
General meetings are a great place to mingle, share experiences, and
just have a great time. It's also an avenue for introducing and meeting new
members.
